I should say this was taken some time soon after WW2 — 1945 -50, and appears to have been taken from the site of the old laundry at the Pinchbeck Road end of the Avenue. I lived down the far end, near the river bridge — my parents had their house built there in 1937, when the Avenue was being developed. The houses in the photo seem to have a 1930s style to them.
I lived down this road, almost opposite the laundry. I remember when it was pulled down & it caught fire. I remember before Oakley Drive was built & it was a big field.
Thanks. Please share more memories- Regards Geoff
What was on the opposite side, towards the bridge, someone told me it was an old surgery. I remember Fyffes? Up near the top. But what was there before the newer houses?
Thanks for contact us. Let’s hope someone can help us. Regards Geoff
