How many?

Four people can participate in the course.

Physical restrictions

Blacksmithing is a physically demanding job. Every applicant will have to take into consideration that they will be on their feet for the duration, working with metal and swinging a hefty hammer for the majority of their time.

Health considerations?

Applicants with medical conditions such as bad backs, heart conditions or joint pain are strongly advised not to participate in an all day session.

Age limits

For the introductory session, participants must be aged seven or over (accompanied by an adult). Participants in the half or full day sessions must be aged 13 or over.

Participants must be able to attend Chain Bridge Forge in High Street, Spalding, Lincs, PE11 1TX

Do you issue refunds?

Unfortunately we cannot issue any refunds for cancellations.

What happens when I buy a session online?

On completion of your order, you will be emailed a booking reference number. Present this email on arrival, or if you don’t have a printer, simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number.

Can I make group bookings online?

We usually run 4 people per session so the available numbers on the system are set to this. If we are running a bespoke event then we can discuss and set up a specific product for you on our website.

Can I purchase my session on the day?

All sessions need to be pre-ordered. Limited sessions may be available on the day but cannot be guaranteed.

What do I need to bring?

ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED.

When working in a workshop environment, clothing is very important.

The best is denim jeans, a cotton t-shirt or top, and strong sturdy shoes. Walking boots are
preferable if possible.

It’s worth mentioning as well that long hair will need to be tied back at all times.

What is access like?

There is level access to all the buildings. A step at the exit can be avoided by exiting via the entrance.

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site. Water bowls are available outside.

Arriving by information

Parking: There is no designated parking at the site however there is street parking.

There are two public car parks within 5 minutes walk of the forge – one further down High Street and a second over the river at the Castle Sports Centre.

Bike: We have an area on site where you can secure your bicycle.

Train: The nearest train station is Spalding which is approximately 2 miles away.

Additional information

Accessible Toilets – There are accessible toilets in the Forge.

Refreshments – These are provided by a machine in the Shoeing Shed.

Smoking – The Forge is a no smoking site. Smoking is not permitted in any buildings.

First Aid – First Aid Facilities are available on site.
