Todkill Windmill

What I can gather this small 4 bladed windmill was built in1825 possibly as a drainage wind mill as there was said to be a small creek behind. It was owned by Guys Hospital. In 1864 George Prest leased it from the hospital and it was occupied by John Smart.By 1882 the miller was James Todkill. The Mill was demolished in 1903. It was situated about 200 yards from the present bridge on the Tydd bank.Colourised photo.

Roy Ashton adds
This map dated 1825 shows Todkills mill and the ropewalk was the river bank prior to the new cut.
