Henry Halley Thompson was born in Long Sutton during 1887. He later moved to Holbeach but left the town during his late teens to work on the railways and later with the dock police on the Manchester Ship Canal. He returned to Holbeach in 1918 living in ‘The Tenters’ and soon ran a photographers in Station Street. He later moved to Hallgate and carried on the photography business until his death in Kings Lynn Hospital during 1938 following an illness lasting three months. The burial took place in Holbeach Cemetery on June 29th.
