Spalding UDC Fire Brigade purchased this Leyland Cub FK4 pump escape (JL 2323, chassis 3617) in June 1935 and it is powered by a Leyland 6-cylinder SV 27.3hp petrol engine and equipped with a Gwynne 400gpm pump. After serving with the National Fire Service from 1941 until 1948, it became part of the Holland County Fire Brigade fleet. It was subsequently saved for preservation and became a television star when it appeared in an episode of Dad’s Army. It is now part of the Bressingham Steam Museum collection at Diss in Norfolk.
