Plover nets, Cowbit Wash 1900

Here we have a photo of two men setting some nets to catch Plovers on Cowbit Wash.  Dated 1900

Traditionally, farmers and wildfowlers went out on Cowbit Wash when it flooded, making a living from ducks and plovers. These were then sent on the train from Cowbit station to many places including London.
