Not strictly the history of motoring in South Holland but never the less an interesting archive for the petrol heads among us. I started driving in the early 1960’s and my first car was a Ford Anglia. it was old

when i bought it and had the flippers that came out the side of the car to indicate you were turning. The flippers were unreliable and usually responded to a thump on the inside wall. However not conducive for driving in a straight line. These were replaced with flashing lights. The car gave me independence and i was the first one in the family to own a car. The film that particularly caught my eye was “Women Driving in 1937” an advert by the Ford Motor Co,

  1. E93a I believe, although that might have been the Ford Popular, very similar cars. Nowadays very popular (pun intended) with hotrodders who put huge V8 engines in them!
