John Bell is listed as a plumber at Moulton in White’s Lincolnshire Directory, 1882. Do you know more about John, and where he lived exactly ? If so please leave a comment.

John Bell (1837 – 1907) was born in Moulton and then as a child his family moved to Horncastle. After his marriage, he followed his father’s profession of being a plumber and started his own business in Narrow Lane (now Loop Lane). He was also a glazier and painter. By 1881 he had moved into the village in a house that was next to Boyfield house and lived there until he died. The pictures of Boyfield House and the neighbouring property that I have seen are not conclusive that this is the same property. Although it may well be. In 1895 the property next to Boyfield House was sold but it appears that John Bell stayed there I assume that was just a landlord change. Advert for auction as follows “In Moulton. Lot 8 – All that HOUSE and Garden, situate in the village of Moulton, bounded by property of Dr. King on the north and west, by property of Miss Foster on the south and by the road leading to the Station on the east, in the occupation of Mr. John Bell. The business of a Painter, Plumber and Glazier is carried on upon these premises.”
