Fruit Pickers In Lutton

1900-1916, Lutton, Lincolnshire, England,
This photo was taken in an orchard in Lutton owned by the Pratt family. They grew apples, plums and pears and also red, black and white currants, raspberries and gooseberries. James Pratt is on the left and his wife, Eliza, on the right. Their daughter, Hannah, stands next to her mother. The photo was taken sometime between 1900 and 1916.
Note that the women are wearing Lincolnshire bonnets, designed to protect the head and back of the neck from the sun.
