Hi!
Please may I suggest the photograph [of the Bulls Neck Pub in Holbeach] is earlier than the 1950’s? The facade sign says ‘Soames’ , a brewery in Spalding which was bought out in 1949 by Steward and Patteson, the Norfolk based brewer. I infer from S&P’s expansionist behaviour that they would have re-branded the premises after the take-over. S&P themselves were taken over in the 1960’s by Watney Mann.
The landlord in 1851 was James Huckbody Eason, an ancestor of mine. Does anyone know when the pub opened?
Thanks for the update. Let’s hope someone can help
We are trying to research the history of the Bulls Neck as we believe it to be the only pub of this name in England. Can anyone help as we are the new owners of it.
Hello Neil!
Since my 2014 comment above, I’ve got more information about your pub, and have written a book with a few paragraphs on the Bulls Neck. Please e-mail me on andy@ajc4.me.uk and I will try to help.
Andy.
