All Saints Holbeach POI: The Organ

Organ Gallery

The first organ of more modern times, built by Walker, was placed at the West end of the Church, but was replaced by a Kirkland organ in 1886 at the east end of the south aisle. This was reconstructed by Compton in 1950, with the addition of a choir organ, paid for by a bequest from Miss Dorothy Carter. Sadly, in the late 1970s the organ was reconstructed and various pipes taken out by Groves of Nottingham and shipped to different churches. The Choir organ was re-located to the chancel in 1977, and further work carried out in 1996 and 2003. It began to gradually deteriorate during the first part of the present century and became unplayable. Consequently, a complete rebuild was necessary. This was undertaken by Malcolm Spink and Son of Leeds in 2019, at a cost of £30,000, which was generously donated in memory of a parishioner.
