The tomb of Sir Humphrey Littlebury, now in the northwest corner, was originally located at the east end of the north aisle in what was then the Littlebury Chapel. He is dressed in the full armour of a knight of the late 14 century. He and his family were benefactors of the building of this church. Children, in particular, love looking at his tomb for the mailed helm, the lion at his feet, the grotesque heads and the shields.
Nearby, the brasses of a headless knight and that of Joan Welby on a tomb chest are said to be all that remain of a vast number of brass memorials and other ornamentations removed by Oliver Cromwell’s troops.
