Damage in Ayscoughfee gardens after it was bombed on the afternoon of 2nd Aug 1942. This shows the bowling green this is now the peace garden. The building you see was the stable block that burnt down in in the 1950’s and was replaced with the cafe.

This was originally erected in 1874 in Hall Place Spalding as a Memorial to Mary Ann Johnson (1794 – 1878) A benefactor of the town. It was moved to Ayscoughfee Gardens in 1954.
