Hello, I’m thrilled to find this photo of Sutton Bridge Railway bridge. I have just found in the 1871 census that one of my mum’s ancestors was the bridge keeper!
His name was Frederick Rix, and he lived in the Bridge House on Bridge Road with his wife Emma, and their children Harriett and Herbert.
To make this even more of a strange coincidence, my family moved up from London in 1974 to Sutton Bridge, and I have always loved the little Bridge House right down by the river bank.
I would love to have a print of this photo if that is possible.
Thank you for adding a little spark of excitement to my day 🙂
