St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Gosberton.
Why and when was the embroidery created?
With the aid of a Millennium Grant, a team of skilled local needle women produced the Gosberton Village Millennium Embroidery, which is proudly on display in St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church.
It was dedicated by the Bishop of Grantham in December 2000. Postcards were produced of the embroidery in aid of church funds.
What does it feature?
Gosberton’s answer to the Bayeux tapestry, commemorates not the Battle of Hastings but captures a snapshot of the village as it was at the dawn of the new Millennium. Many of the village’s most iconic buildings, businesses and people are featured.
The embroidery provides a wonderful snapshot of contemporary Gosberton, to be enjoyed hopefully by many generations to come.
