St George’s Parade ????

This picture we believe shows an St George parade in the 1940's. The initial picture shows the back of the parade which has just passed Chain Bridge Forge and you can see the Osams which is now White House Chambers over the river. The parade are carrying flags. Strangely only a lady her children watching seem to be watching the event. On the right of the picture you can see Mr Godfrey's shop.

On the right of the picture you can see Mr Godfrey’s shop and a lamp post which appears to be in the middle of the road.
We think this picture shows the same event with scouts marching back. The buildings are much the same as today in that part of Commercial Rd. i.e. opposite the foot bridge. However the gap in the buildings is now filled by the Eastern European shop.
