Hi, My name is John Royce. I think the two Turners in the photo are some how related to me, because the Captain John Turner mentioned was my Gt Gt Grandfather’s Step-Son. I have had a letter from Elizabeth Hall, saying Cpt. John Turner is her Gt.Grandfather, I’m looking for any pictures of My Great Great Grandfather Captain Thomas Royce 1813-1878, founder member of the Spalding Shipwreck Society. He owned & was landlord of the ” Angel Inn” 34-35 Double St, Spalding, and he owned 5 ships.
Can anyone help me find anything to do with the Royce family from 1800’s to the present..
Many thanks John Royce.
I am trying to piece together some information about Leslie Howieson (died July 2022), a former Navy man, and the Shipwreck Society was mentioned to me as a possible line of enquiry. He was a colleague of mine at Spalding Grammar School until about 1986, a very private man, and nobody seems to know a great deal about him. I’m ‘clutching at straws’, but do you by any chance have any information that might help me compose my tribute at the funeral?
Thanks let’s hope someone can help. Regards Geoff
