Extract from Spalding Memories, Facebook. Authored by John Wakefield. Further to the mention of Robert Appleby. Not sure if you have seen this Reuben Holmes but it is an image of his shop in Spalding Market Place from 150 years ago. Would this have been number 10 or a different shop? The shop next door (to the left) ends in “gton Druggist”
It is taken from his monthly “The South Holland Magazine” which he produced and sold. I’m not sure for how long for but ours date from 1870 and 1871.
I love the period adverts for all sorts of random Victorian health and beauty remedies!
