Locals stand in the road outside the old Red Cow Pub, Quadring. The Red Cow was situated at 128 Main Road. It was originally a Soames Brewery pub, which was then sold to Steward & Patteson in 1949. It closed in 2007, and is now used as an Indian restaurant called The Curry Inn.

The gable end on the left of the picture is the scullery window of the Black Bull Inn,a Warwick and Richardson’s house,My Grandfather and Father were Landlords. The house with a protruding sign down the Siding Road was the White Hart, another Warwick and Richardsons house, which my Father took over when the Black Bull was closed in the late 50’s.
Thanks for the addition

Geoff

No. Hydes shop was there at the same time. They sold everything, and had vans that went around the district. In the fifties they were Austin threeway vans ,and the Morris equivalent.
Whilst at the Black Bull Dad opened a snack bar in the old butchers shop on the Eaudyke Rd end. When they moved to the White Hart he opened a what would now be known as a convenience store. This was closed when the Mitchels took over and has now been incorporated into the bar.I have photos of both and will look them out for you.
When the Black Bull closed it was demolished by Sid Leverton who used the rammle as hardcore for his yard where he kept his coaches and threshing tackle, next to Hobart House on the main road. Later a bungalow was built on the garden area by the new owner of Hydes. [ A Mr Litton I think,a seed merchant ]
Thanks, I would love to see the pictures.
