Lincolnshire Poacher formerly The Crane.
The public house got its name from a crane which used to be sited on the river bank in Double St in Spalding. Most of the surrounding buildings have disappeared.

My grandfather James Henry Watson, together with his wife, Ethel Mary, was Landlord of The Crane many years ago.
My grandfather was also Landlord of the Butchers Arms and lastly The White Horse Inn which I recently learnt has now closed. I spent the first few years of my life (from 1942) living at the White Horse with my Mother and grandparents while my Father was in the RAF. I have various photos, including one of him standing outside what I think could be The Crane.
Thanks for your memories and we would love to see your photos. email to chainbridgeforge@gmail.com
