I was speaking to my Grandad today. He knew it as the pub on New Fen Dike (I think, could have been on Old Fen Dike) as they lived in the house that was built behind it called “The Gate”. “The Gate” is still there today but surrounded by conifers so you can’t actually see the house. Grandad used to farm on the field behind, lots of good memories at that house.

Just in parish of Sutton St James, travel north along Lutton gate Road, Sutton St Edmund, at t junction turn left, about 200 yards on the right just before reaching bridge over drain
