Hello,
I’ve just Googled “Gosberton Brewery” and come up with your article on it.
My name is Graham Davies and I am trying to piece together mine, and my father’s past. In 1950 my father, Rhys Cynon Davies, took on the Bottle & Glass, Northorpe, Donnington, as Landlord. The pub was owned by a company/someone based in Gosberton. I recall going in the van with my father to Gosberton to collect some beer, I think cases of bottles, not barrels. I was 7-8 at the time so the memory of this is not exact. We were at the Bottle & Glass for 2 years and then moved on to the New Inn, Horncastle, as I believe the Gosberton owner was selling his pubs to an East Anglian Brewery, not sure which one, and my father didn’t want to be tied to them. Can you shed any light on the name of the Gosberton company, where they were located in Gosberton and which brewery bought the pubs ? Any other relevant information would be helpful too. The Bottle & Glass is now a residence, and looking at its size, I wondered how anyone could make a living from such a small pub – but it was pre TV days !
I will be very grateful for any info you may be able to provide.
