Sue Gray Rhodes Found these photos whilst I had time on my hands last week.
The one of Grays shop must have been just after it opened in 1919 when it was just a small, bay windowed property. Established by my great grandfather George Henry Gray – then his son Thomas Claude (seen in the company vehicle) expanded the business by buying next door I believe – lots of family involved including my Dad, Barry.
Jane Cooper (nee Gray) and I were Saturday girls – working in the shop during the late 60s and 70s. The practical electrical and plumbing skills learnt during those years have served me well – and the premises is still the base for a very similar business over a hundred years on!
Memories!!
