The only landlord I can remember was Frank Taylor. My dad, Doug Fairbanks and my auntie June Inglis were stalwarts of the cribbage team. My most enduring memory was, as a Sunday paperboy knocking at the back door for payment in absolutely sailing down rain. Frank asked if I would like to borrow a raincoat. I replied “I don’t mind”, to which he replied “if you don,t mind, I don’t mind”, and unsympathetically closed the door! He did however serve a good pint of Steward and Pattersons
My Mother-in-Law has a memory of the quaint little staircase with hardly any landing upstairs- very dodgy she says! when she stayed with her father Harry Feakes, who was the Landlord around 1962. She wishes she could remember how long he was Landlord for? If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
