This photo shows Cowbit Stations signal box.
The March-Spalding line was closed on the 27th November 1982. Track lifting took place in two stages over the next three years: in autumn 1983 the up line to March was lifted whilst the down line to Spalding was lifted in the summer of 1985. The station buildings all survive in private ownership.

The owners of the signal box have put a beautiful extension to the rear of the property I believe to be nearly complete, looking at French drove that recently came up for sale I can see this was a necessary development making it possible to become a fair sized family home, it’s lovely to see such care and attention to detail – which appears to be a real labour of love, it’s wonderful to see it saved and preserved for its next life.
Equally beautiful the station owners look to have kept everything as original as possible, I often pass by and even their cars are periodically correctly dated it’s like a time capsule, the only addition to original I can see is that they’ve converted the platform waiting area into a dog groomers.
Situated opposite is the gatekeepers house which looks to be renovated & well kept also retaining original features, at the time of writing this, the goods shed could do with a loving owner and it recently came on the market for £250,000
Let’s hope Postland can still be saved!
