To prevent further flooding to Spalding the Coronation Channel was created and opened in 1953. The photograph shows the work in progress and video below the opening ceremony.

Are there any high water Mark’s to show how high Spalding was flooded in 1947?
Good question don’t know the answer. Let hope someone else knows. Geoff
Apparently it was upto 2ft deep in town where the Red Lion pub is
