The Bell & Bowl Pub, Whaplode. The name Harold Elwes is on the sign above the entrance. The Bell & Bowl was a Soames Brewery pub that was sold to Steward & Patteson in 1949.
It closed on 10th March 1965. Photo dated around 1950.

  1. My ancestor Jesse Johnson ran the pub around 1901. The family rumour is that he gambled the pub away. By 1911 he is a coal worker in Yorkshire…

    Would love to have any pictures or memories of the pub. We still have a german wall clock rumoured to be from the pub.
