In the 1930’s, Branton & Co. china & earthenware factors had their warehouse in Bedford Place. Later there was also Pilkington’s pork pie bakehouse and Donnington’s warehouse selling crockery and paints. More recently Bedford Place was home to the Granary Nightclub, which closed in 2005 and the building now converted into flats. All the cottages which used to be in Bedford Place have also long gone, demolished to make way for the Vine Street car park.
