Gosberton’s Ambitious Plan

The Gosberton Heritage Project 2025, a joint venture between Gosberton and District Local History Society, Gosberton Parochial Church Council, and South Holland Life, aims to place Gosberton Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul as a key routeway into Gosberton heritage, whilst at the same time generating increased income for church fabric and asset maintenance and repair.
Gosberton & District Local History Society Secretary, Stuart Henderson, explains, “The Church is at the heart of the village’s rich history – and yet it is under-appreciated. We aim to make it a place where people will want to come and learn about the history, not only of the church itself, but also the village and surrounding area.
The Project aims to achieve that in a number of ways. “We want to create a mini-museum, if you like, within the Church,” says Stuart, “There will be display boards and glass cabinets, telling the story of past times in Gosberton, Gosberton Risegate and Gosberton Clough – covering all periods of history. There will also be some publications available to browse, which will be of particular interest to those researching their family history. We also want to celebrate the history of the church itself, and some of the interesting features within it. There will be both virtual and guided church tours available. We would also hope to have two the church’s altarpieces renovated, as they would undoubtedly be a big draw. There will also be an interactive digital display screen near the church entrance, providing historical information and also details of church services and events.”
