Traders in Spalding’s ‘forgotten retail area’ of Winsover Road welcomed the opening of supermarket Lidl, saying it ‘could only be a good thing’.

It was thought the new store, on the site of the former Co-op, could bring prosperity to that part of town.

Winsover Road contained takeaways, restaurants and a few specialist shops – and traders felt more pedestrian traffic could rejuvenate the area.
