The Cemetery Chapels, near the centre of Holbeach, are an excellent example of Victorian architecture, designed by one of the leading architects of his day, James Piggott Pritchett Junior . The Chapels, one Church of England and the other Non-Conformist, built in 1854, are surrounded by a six acre cemetery that would have been strongly influenced in layout and planting by the influential landscape designer, James Claudius Loudon. There are some fine examples of elaborate funerary monuments which commemorate some of the area’s leading families and figures of their time.
