The South Transept

St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Gosberton.

The South and North Transepts, along with the Nave and Chancel, form the basic cruciform shape of the church – common in church architecture (the cross, of course, being the main symbol of the Christian church). The original parts of the transept date back, most probably, to the 13th century, and perhaps it sits on the foundations of the original Norman church.
