The only remaining evidence of the Whaplode St. Mary’s Church band’s existence in the 18th and 19th centuries is the the large 6 keyed Double Reed Bassoon, which used to hang in the South Ailse for many years and is now stored safely within the Vestry. Dated from 1790-1810, a framed picture of the Bassoon can be seen here in the west end of the Church.
