I note that Spalding has an area called ‘Little London’. Am I right in assuming that Spalding was a route for scottish cattel en-route to London’s Spittlefield’s market/ perhaps via St Faith’s nr. Norfolk?
An interesting question. I will see if anyone knows the answer to this, and ask them to post the answer here – so keep checking back from time to time!

Jim, One of my colleagues informs me: “Thirty plus years ago, I did some research on cattle droving in connection with the Bull in Pinchbeck. The research was initially based on old documents actually still in the public house at that time. I carried on the work using other archival sources. I wondered if there might have been some references to Scottish cattle en route to London but I can find nothing and certainly don’t remember anything.”
If we find out anything more from other sources I’ll post it on here.
