The shop to the right of the bank used to be the International Stores over sixty years ago. My grandfather Bill Sleaford managed the store and lived above the shop with my grandmother.
That was in the days when Holbeach was a town to be proud to live there. Lots of different shops with their owners/tenants keeping their own shop fronts clean and the entrance to their shop swept and any rubbish or leaves carefully disposed of . It was such a pleasure to go into a butchers or bakers in those days receiving a smile and good morning greeting . Where has our town gone âĤ.
