This postcard from 1904 shows a relatively unusual view of the the eastern side of Hall place looking northwards and includes a nice view of the fountain in it’s original location. It’s a bustling Edwardian street scene with many shoppers and traders selling their wares.
The postcard was written at Spalding on 6th September 1904 and reads “This is Spalding Market Place. Have an hour to wait for my train A. W.” It was posted to a Miss Hilda Westendale, “Wellfield”, Bury. You can imagine he or she bought and wrote it whilst waiting for the train.
