Bottle & Glass Pub, Whaplode Drove

The Bottle & Glass Pub, Whaplode Drove. Photo dated around 1950.

The Bottle & Glass was situated on Broadgate. This pub is now used as a private house. The publican in 1861 was Edmund Fisher and in 1919 Levi King.  This was a Soames Brewery pub that was sold to Steward & Patteson in 1949. Closed on 4th June 1963.

  1. I won’t remember it as I would only 4 in 1963 .I only knew it as a private house . Such a shame as there’s no pubs Whaplode Drove or Gedney Hill

  2. Levi James King was my great grandfather, his son-in law, Arthur Judge ( my grandfather) became licensee after Levi, followed by his son ( my uncle ), Jack Judge, who was licensee until it closed .
    My Mum, Betsy Lillian Harrison, nee Judge, was born there in 1921
