John Wakefield – This is the image from a postcard. It was has a postmark for “Long Sutton Lincs 8.15PM August 18th 1904” and was posted to a “Mr P. W. Mitchell, c/o Miss Twidds, Station Road, Holt, Norfolk”
The message reads simply “Glad to hear you arrived safe. I shall come by the 12.12 train frm here on Saturday.G”
Does anyone know the location or the event at all? I am assuming it is Long Sutton but not 100% sure. I would imagine hot air balloons must have been something of a rarity nearly 120 years ago.
