John Richard Brice

A keen Spalding sportsman, John Richard Brice died in October 1930 aged 66. Two adult children were left to mourn at the grave side, as two sons were killed in the last war, and Mrs Elizabeth Brice died in November 1929 aged 65; Mr Brice had lived at 7 Hall Place. He had been in failing health since the loss of his wife, and recently confined to his home where he had lived for about 20 years. A native of Spalding, he had been Manager of the Selby’s grocery and provision shop, but latterly, a car park attendant for the Urban District Council. He was buried in Spalding cemetery.

He had been one of the founder members of Spalding United Football Club, and sat on their committee for some years. His son Stanley Brice was then Captain of Spalding United Football Club.
