The tall building to the right is that of Johnson Bros Ironmongers, and this stood on the land opposite side of the road to the White Horse Inn & what is now the Crystal Inn Chinese restaurant/takeaway.

It’s hard to imagine nowadays how such a building could have stood there, but the road back then was a little narrower.
