Flash Back Friday: The White Horse Inn

This historic photograph shows The White Horse Inn, once a well known and much used pub at the heart of village life. Like many rural pubs of the time, it was more than just somewhere for a drink. It was a place where neighbours met, news was shared, and everyday village life unfolded.

The White Horse traded for many years and remained a familiar and recognisable building well into the later part of the 20th century. Many locals will remember it as a stopping point for farm workers, cyclists and villagers alike. Although it eventually closed as a public house and became a private home, its place in the village’s history is still very much remembered.

Photos like this capture a time when the pub was a key part of the community, reflecting the pace and character of village life in earlier years.
