Fosdyke Bridge

The bridge opened and allowed shipping from the Wash up to Spalding. A wooden bridge was erected in 1815 to carry traffic from Boston to Kings Lynn. The bridge was replaced with a metal swing bridge in 1911. Fosdyke was once a bathing resort.

  1. Hello, Has anyone to your knowledge have any information when a ship in the 1990’s approx, broke her moorings and struck and damaged Fosdyke Bridge. Kind regards. Rex Allen.

  2. My husband worked at Fosdyke Bridge at the time and a Scottish manager (name not remembered) got him on a little boat with a motor trying to pull it out, but when they let go of the mooring rope they crashed into the side of the ship. I would love to see pics or even the news report as it’s believed that ITN news were on the bridge.
